Our client – a manufacturer of cutting-edge, high-quality, cost-effective, and easy-to-use lighting controls and software – is seeking a knowledgeable, quick-thinking, aggressive and self-starting Regional Sales Director for the Northeast to get our client’s products specified into projects in the Northeast while working with multiple fixture manufacturers, develop and prove their sales model and create a productive region!  

You will utilize your experience with and knowledge of controls, your ability to think on your feet, your intellectual curiosity, strong technical interest and aptitude to ensure your success.  You’ll also use your ability to see sales from a process perspective as well as understand the arc of the engagement, and even be shameless about mobilizing internal resources to get things in front of the customer as needed!  You will chart the path and then deliver to the customer, which will be ensured by your network of business contacts in your local territory. Your ability to be sociable and not afraid to get out there and close deals, large and small will also be extremely beneficial.  The New York area is a key area of activity for them, and you’ll spend much of your time in the New York and Westchester County area. 

Our ideal candidate is able to work without a lot of structure, is not shy in asking for what they need and currently is a Regional Sales Manager, National Accounts Manager, Specification Sales Representative, or possibly even an outgoing, well-connected Applications Engineer with an understanding of the sales process!    Our ideal candidate also has a background in controls, working for a manufacturer or a rep agency and is able to deliver on sophisticated controls projects working with partner companies and knows control systems enough to ‘talk the talk’, prove our client’s model, and determine whether they should set up a rep network or a network of specifiers.  If you’re currently living in the New York/Westchester County/Connecticut or New Jersey area, that is a real plus, but Boston, Philadelphia or Baltimore will be considered.   BS/BA Degree preferred (but not critical); 25-40% travel.
