Solutions Architect

Our client (a financially solid manufacturer with a very entrepreneurial environment) is seeking a personable Solutions Architect who is a skilled collaborator and liaison to jump into our clients’ app development and become immersed in their existing projects to understand the specifications that have been written so far and work with our client’s ongoing product development process and inform the direction for our client’s app team!

You will utilize your fundamental understanding of app and Cloud development, your experience in architecting IoT solutions will all come into play as you help develop and translate market requirements into product specifications! Our client has a building full of people who can write code, but your ability deal with a wide variety of people and see the big picture and to take a leadership role in defining the technology to gain alignment between our client’s various departments is key. You’ll work with their product managers and engineers and their app and Cloud developers to architect and design and implement connected and IOT lighting control solutions—you will be the glue! Your understanding of hardware and firmware development, the reasons, functions and logic behind what they do as you write the engineering specifications (or at least lead that development) will also come into play.

Our ideal candidate is currently a Solutions Architect, Director of Innovation, Director of Emerging Technologies or possibly a Principal Engineer. An understanding of the interaction between hardware, the devices, Cloud services and mobile applications is essential. You won’t be doing hardware development, but you must truly understand it, as you’ll be the conduit between two of our client’s groups! Experience with both AGILE and WATERFALL is also critical. Your skill at working well with various players in different departments and divisions and willingness to ‘get your hands dirty’ is welcome! You don’t need to have any experience writing software for apps or for Cloud, but it is a plus. Candidates who have taken a legacy product and IoT-enabled it is a huge plus. Experience working with remote teams is highly preferred. BS Computer Science, BSEE or any computer programming degree required. Computer security or Cloud certifications are a real plus. 5–10% travel.
