What I’ve Learned: Bill Brown

Founder and Chairman, Bill Brown Sales & A.L.P. Lighting Components

Bill Brown

The average person can’t work for me.  By definition, I require above-average people because you need above average people to have an above-average company.

People around me are always asking me why I haven’t retired by now.   I’m really working because I don’t have any retirement skills.

I don’t resist change; I encourage it.

Treat others the way you’d like to be treated.   It’s the Golden Rule.

I had one competitor tell me that because I work harder than other people, I’m an unfair competitor.

My father always said that if you want to succeed faster than the other fella, you have to out-produce him.

I’m not an 8 hour a day guy. I don’t punch the clock, I stay at work until I feel I’ve gotten the job done as best I could.  I then start over again the next day.

My dad had a tavern; he worked 7 days a week.  Sunday was his short day---he worked from 12 noon to 9 p.m. at night. I feel if I work 6 days a week, I’ve got an advantage compared to him.

Take nothing for granted.

The only way I can help people is to help people improve their standard of life; when I help them, it helps me improve my standard of life.

Testimonials

“The Pompeo Group is my go-to for talent in the lighting industry. Paul and his team are the consummate professionals---capable, confident, and, most important---discreet.  Paul helped me win my current position as Senior VP Channel Sales. I have worked and networked with other recruiters over my long career and The Pompeo Group has always been a leader. They have a vast network and can quickly get you through the process of hiring. TPG was my advocate! I was represented well, and the communication was outstanding. I always knew where I stood and what options were available. When anyone in my network is looking for an opportunity to advance their career, I send them to Paul. Great job, thanks!”
